I'm not going to lie, I'm more than a little bit jealous of people who are able to make a living - in some cases a COMFORTABLE living - creating Star Citizen content. Though I have taken an extended break from SC (last played regularly 3.14, awaiting 4.0 before diving back in), I still consume this content constantly hoping that it will one day come in handy if SC is released before I die. I've watched so many hundreds of hours that I've found myself categorizing creators into one or more of several "genres", for lack of a better word. There are the news-first guys who parrot back the week's official CIG announcements, the editorial guys who share why they think System XYZ is brilliant or sucks, the how-to guys with guides to earning millions of aUEC, the gameplay streamers, the system detail gurus, etc. I see much angst on Spectrum and Reddit about creators and their role, and it got me wondering about what others are looking for out of creators and which ones are your favorites. Personally, I like the ship reviews and deep-dives into the math that back the gameplay systems. I'm a geek for ship load-outs. Since many channels offers similar content, especially the news-recap sites, I find it's often the creators voice and skill at creating polished graphics and voice-overs that stand out. Some of my favorites are SublimaL & Ray's Guide (numbers guys), Obsidian Ant & Super Mac Brother (recap/insight guys), Space Tomato (all-around polish) and Hawkes Gaming (get rich - also a hilarious voice! If you see this Hawkes, consider going into voice acting if content creation gets boring, you could make a killing!). Also like some of Morphologist, Farrister, Voidy and Noobifier1337 content. I'm less a fan of the angry guys (Salt E Mike, Yamiks, Grumpy Eye) as aggravation is not why I watch, and the take-it-too-serious types (Citizen Kate). Curious who others like or dislike and why?
