I have a person that want to join the game. But on purpose I am holding him off slightly because i told him. 'If you join during the free fly event you might get a bonus ship/vehicle. So you better wait.' And before people call me egocentric, i told him that i will probably also get the same item for my referal, and he is totally okay with that. On the one hand it's nice that CIG is giving stuff for free don't get me wrong. But it also feels odd you need to tell people to wait with the game because they are close to getting a free item. And you can say, well f*ck the free item i want to play. But honestly... a dragonfly.. a MPUV... they give away some stuff that is almost the same price someone is paying for his startership. So it feels just wrong to tell the guy. Sure join the game. And 2 weeks later he hears... oh dude.. if i joined now i would have gotten another ship for free..
