Dear CIG Representatives, We, the backers of Star Citizen, are reaching out with an official inquiry regarding the status of the Banu Merchantman (BMM)—a ship announced over 10 years ago that still has not been released, despite millions of dollars in funding. Concerns and Questions: Where’s the Progress? The ship was first introduced in 2013, yet information on its development has been extremely scarce since then. Occasional screenshots or mentions in streams appear, but there is no clear plan, timeline, or even confidence that the BMM will release in the coming years., Why has such an important and expensive ship (priced at $650) remained in limbo for so long? Why Are Other Projects Prioritized? We understand that Squadron 42 is your flagship project, but BMM backers pledged their money specifically for Star Citizen., Why do new ships (including concept sales) release regularly, while the BMM—already fully funded—remains stuck in the backlog for years? Will It Ever Release? , Over the years, the ship’s design has repeatedly shifted (from a medium trader to a near-capital vessel), yet it has never approached a finalized state., Does CIG have a clear plan to complete it, or has it been postponed indefinitely? Why the Lack of Transparency? We Demand an Answer: The community has waited years for the Banu Merchantman, and the current situation feels like a disregard for backers' interests. We ask CIG to: Provide an official, detailed update on the BMM’s current status. Explain the reasons for delays and outline the main challenges in its development. We have supported Star Citizen all these years, but such treatment of one of the most anticipated ships erodes trust. Sincerely, The Star Citizen Backer Community The ship roadmap is no longer updated, and rare mentions of the BMM in Q&As sound like "work is ongoing, but no timelines exist." Why can’t CIG provide at least approximate development milestones, as was done in the past?
