"AI security staff programmed to not be that intelligent" Mistake, BIG mistake. They SHOULD BE. It should be on the PLAYER to become either good enough or able to mitigate that with tech, practice and training. The AI NEEDS to be smart, it needs to be able to step up when those type players come along that will 'game' the system for that very reason. Players should not be able to just play through like most other games where you run into security dudes and after the first 60 seconds have passed, you know their weakness and can predict what they will or will not do. AI subsumption SHOULD make them a challenge for everyone, from the worst player to the best player, AI SHOULD BE the mitigating factor in anything we do.. the HUGE unknown.. The one where the WORST player can take out the best player, albeit rarely, BECAUSE the worst player was able to leverage what was around him.. AI security forces and other abilities.. things that the 'best' players usually take for granted because they are the 'best' ... normally. AI should become the biggest 'asset' OR biggest 'detriment' to Star Citizen that players/backers have in the game. The one thing that CAN turn the tables. The unknown.. I.E. will the AI that you come up against, be a solid unit with a mix of AI levels or will you get spanked by an Elite AI unit? Who knows, maybe you just happened in on a rotation of a training unit of AI with a top level leader but the rest of the unit being newbie AI. IT should not matter what level we the player are that determines what shows up. That is too predictable. Whether we suck as a player or are considered one of the best, when AI appear, we ALL take an equal chance at what we get... it is THEN up to WE the player's real skills.. Do we suck at combat so we need to retreat or perhaps find a way to fool the good AI unit that we came upon? Do we need to back off and contract for some help with this unit? Or maybe we are the best of the best. And the first part of our mission we got lucky and got a medium capable AI unit that we put down relatively easy.... the next one was actually a bit easier, improving our own boasting and confidence of success.... until suddenly we got spanked.. HARD because unknown to us, an ELITE AI unit heard a distress call before our jamming was able to block all out going comms... one of those 'newbies' we took down actually succeeded in beating our eliteness and now... we gots problems.. lots and lots of problems 'cause not only did we kill their buddies, these guys ARE Elite and if we don't change our tactics, we so called player best of the best types may have just miscalculated in a deadly AND expensive way.... I know CIG has commented about things in the past, assumptions by player and backers have been made.. BUT watching this video from CIG with the town hall and what was said about design, I knew I needed to write this opinion NOW before all was set in stone... The way it came across to me from CIG about how AI would function, is WHY I am writing this.. Hopefully, CIG will consider this comment and what I said.. Yes, it has to be fair, has to be fun.. but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE do not make it dumb and predictable based on basic 'levels of intelligence'.. In all honesty, right now, the AI in game is exactly what we do not want and while, yes, we all know what we have now is NOT any major implementation of the AI and subsumption system, my worry is that with comments as made during the town hall are going to come into play to try to get things 'out the door' quicker and that instead of 'doing it right', it will become a do it just enough to get by and fool the player... I don't want another game where the DEVS just set up the AI to be bad, medium, good and best. Set it up so even the best of us have to WORK for it. Set it up so the best of us cannot just waltz in and use the SAME tactic, SAME weapons and same routines to work through and defeat the AI.. Do it so the AI ITSELF, learns and tries to not make the same mistake (WITHIN REASON or common sense of course) Make WE the player work for it.. not the other way around. But also allow the AI some ability to change ITS own tactics and methodology so it does not become completely pattern predictable.
