This is basically a follow-up to a discussion I had some time ago and that, I think, deserves a dedicated discussion. I think Terra should be renamed as it simply makes no sense to have a system bear the name of our Homeworld that… well, isn’t our home world. The simplest reason for this is simply that it’d lead to confusion and all sorts of administrative and logistical errors and problems. So any structural colonization effort I assume would already try to prevent that from happening in the first place by giving a system a more fitting name – or Nickname. And Im not even kidding, if seen misunderstandings already IN SPECTRUM in discussions when terms of “Terra” and “terran” got mixed up, confused and misinterpreted from readers. So, this isnt even a far-fetched problem! And there is no shortage of franchises that have a “Terra Nova” in its lists of systems/colonized worlds. But those then make use of something that happened often enough in the real world: people use clarifying language or simplifying it even… henceforth most Terra Novae are then often just called “Nova”. This would simply solve the confusion problem while leaving basically the entire Lore untouched and in place, while giving the System itself a district unique identity inside and outside of the ’verse. Sticking to the “Terra” name however would also have several ideological implications. Given the totalitarian period of the Empire it seems literally impossible that a central authority would have stood by and just accept such an obvious claim or outright attack on its authority. This would just undermine the central authority and, from an out-of-world perspective just undermines the coherence of the lore itself and the internal logic of the universe. The other side of the coin is, and this is basically what I hint to at the title: “Terra”, or a variation of it is the real-world name for Earth in several latin-based languages. Having effectively two planets with the same name in the game (assuming there’ll be a localization with 1.0 or due to the using of translate mods) can only lead to confusion and a strange estrangement from the world itself, breaking immersion and the feeling of a real world, where real thought has went into! It just is like naming another star system and its main planet "Sun" - it just doesnt make sense and leads to confusion and makes the thing look kinda ridiculous!
