I have only been playing Star Citizen for the past year, so i know i have missed a lot of controversy around the Corsair getting nerfed and buffed and nerfed again. From hero to zero to somewhere in the middle. Normally i enjoy my MISC ships, but there is something gritty and real about the way Drake ships operate that has such a visceral immersive feeling to it that cannot be denied. The Corsair as Drake's lore'd exploration vessel feels like it is missing something to truly fit into the niche of its marketing as a long-range exploration vessel. With the release of the Clipper, we now see that Drake has their own styling ways of implementing the very things that the corsair is missing... Because what exploration mission has any hope of success without medical and crafting? a means of resupplying from found materials, and a means of keeping its crew alive in remote areas of space. Working man or not, if the solo ship the Clipper can do it, the Corsair should too. here are some suggestions with photos on how CIG could modify the interior of the corsair without completely reworking the bones of it. For reference, the Clipper interior. The Drake med bed could replace the crew cabin room directly opposite the ship's elevator. Acknowledging that this would shrink the crew quarters down from 4 rooms to 3, you could convert 2 of the crew beds from singles to doubles using the assets from the cutlass bunk beds. This would keep the crew lodging consistent with the needs of an exploration vessel and not make it odd thematically. The only sacrifice to accomplish this would be the loss of the "luggage" net above the beds currently. To fit the crafting table would take more effort as the crew bunks would still require 2 of the 3 existing quarters in the belly of the Corsair. Depending on the sizing of the crafting table though, it may be able to take the place of this area in the engineering section of the ship opposite the engineering terminal. there is a place to stand with access to something that says storage but does not currently function and does not seem like a necessary asset. A worst case scenario would be to replace the captains quarters with the crafting bench, as the bunk bed solution would make it suitable for 4 people and having the bunks and a captains quarters would make a total of 5 beds. Another alternative solution could be to put the crafting station in the middle crew quarters room, and turn the captains quarters into flight crew quarters with a bunk bed for Pilot/copilot. and the other bunk bed quarters room would be for the gunners. By implementing these changes with current in-game assets it creates a multi-crew vessel worthy of deep space exploration, whether that be other peoples cargo holds, bunkers, or new star systems, the drake corsair would be a capable long range exploration vessel worthy of its storied past. i know this topic has been covered before ( Med Bay in the corsair and rework - Ask The Devs - Star Citizen - Spectrum v7.104.0 ) but it was prior to these assets being implemented in game and shows that Drake is certainly capable of doing so, the assets are all there, the only thing stopping the developers from implementing it is the desire to do so. Hopefully the Corsair can see one more pass making it into the fan favorite it has always been, with a little more well roundedness. Making these changes would actually make it closer to what the TAC is today with the exception of it being crafting instead of drop seats or a snub bay. It would be close in function and a competitor in a class that people enjoy playing!
