CREW ALERT SYSTEM.....aka, Annunciation System . As a 14,000 hour commercial jet pilot, I've a different opinion on cockpit annunciation and how it should be presented as we see in this video. Modern Avionics no longer do the "light switch" with the vulnerable light bulbs behind it illuminating the Annunciator. (There is a correct way of saying that too btw). No longer is there the light bulbs behind it burning out and grounding the plane. Instead, modern avionics utilize what is referred to as CREW ALERT SYSTEM...or CAS "Cass" for short. It's presented in RED, AMBER, CYAN and WHITE....depending on the message. Red is always on top and is ever present as long as the situation (fire) remains present. It goes away when the situation is resolved. White is such things as Parking Brake ON. You still have a MASTER WARNING (Red) and MASTER CAUTION LIGHT (Amber) switch in front of both pilots that must be pushed when it's triggered by the certain activated annunciators. Some annunciations do NOT trigger Master/Caution lights...they are only informational in nature....Lights, Anti-Ice, etc....these elements change with WOW...Weight On Wheels. If on ground...some things you don't care about...cuz it's normal. In the air, weight off wheels, then it's likely a big deal. It should be that no CAS is present while things are normal or in flight with Weight Off Wheels unless it be RED or AMBER...Cyan and White hide in flight due to the fact you can't do anything about them presently. These CAS messages activate a few seconds after landing once the WOW sensors on the landing gear sense weight on wheels, aka...landing status and the speed has fallen below a certain amount to indicate final landing roll out. A great thing about modern CAS (EICAS) Systems is they generate a electronic Emergency or abnormal checklist to quickly consult and perform. A LEFT ENGINE FUEL PUMP will generate a checklist you quickly click on and then it tells you what to do to get it back online or fly without it for example. These systems have gotten smarter since Star Wars was released in the 70's and so has aviation. I imagine we won't be using 2019 avionics logic 900 years in the future. So please use your well researched imagination and not basic understanding of the 1990's aviation knowledge. I can see Drake totally using annunciators or an 1980's version of CAS on an old CRT. We also have pages of System Schematics we can consult that show fuel/hydraulic pumps, Bleed Air, Anti Ice, Pressurization, Pneumatics, Electrical systems, etc. (shown below). Instead of seeing my ship on the HUD with flashing red broken parts...which is okay in the HUD, I'd like the ability to even further drill down and see each system schematic and observe which thrusters are no longer functional. Which flight control surfaces are broke or missing.
