Hello blacksmiths and citizens of the stars, I’d like to make my first post on Spectrum by talking about a ship that’s particularly close to my heart: the Hammerhead from Aegis Dynamics. Since the announcement of the intention to create a gold standard for the Aegis Hammerhead, I’ve thoroughly examined the ship inside and out to point out the issues that should no longer be present at the release of this so-called standard edition. It mainly highlights the fact that it lacks weapon racks for a combat vessel. Even small ships like the Aurora series, or even slightly larger ones like the Spirit from Crusader or the Zeus from RSI, have weapon racks. So why would a ship with eight crew members for combat missions not have them? Even the latest one that comes to mind, the Paladin from Anvil, has them, for a ship with four people. So why not in a ship truly designed for long-duration combat ? There is more than enough space to add a weapons storage area in the crew room, where the bunks are, in the captain’s cabin, or even in the docking airlock all the way at the front of the ship. The lack of a small infirmary, with the most basic medical bed possible, is also an issue. For a ship that requires, for a full crew, at least eight people, this is a bit lacking. It’s a line combat ship that’s going to go toe-to-toe and will therefore potentially take a lot of damage, and thus have injured personnel. Not having even a single bed in an infirmary is a problem as well. I already anticipate those who might criticize the request for a small infirmary. I’m not asking for the capability of an Apollo Medivac, for example, but truly to have a small infirmary equivalent to that of a C-8R Rescue, or even one that you can find in Drake’s Clipper. I am a staunch advocate of the idea that, of course, not all ships should be able to do everything. But when we talk about a gold standard, that is, a ship that is supposed to have all its components physically implemented and all its functionalities available, when it comes to the blast doors, I hope they will be present, of course, at the release of this gold standard, but that they will have been well thought out. We must remember that this ship is organized around two corridors. If now the front of the ship were to become isolated from the rear, due to, say, both elevators being occupied by enemies, I hope they have thought about this scenario. And, once again, we return to the importance of having weapons racks available. Now, a slightly less serious topic: the application of skins on the ship. Currently, most skins do not take into account the different points where the turrets are located on the ship. I don’t know if this is intentional or an oversight by the developers, because it might be possible later on; I don’t know, to change the turret cabins. I must admit, I don’t really believe that. However, if that is the case, I would understand that applying skins to elements that are supposed to be changed and replaced could cause problems. Now, since the Hammerhead turrets are and form an integral part of the ship, I don’t understand why the skins don’t apply, because on a skin like the Nightbreak, which is mainly in dark black and red tones, having all gray turrets that look out of place is a bit of a shame, especially when you look at the price of some of these skins.. I’m, of course, very curious to see what this gold standard will deliver for 4.8, probably for Invictus Launch Week. I hope that this topic will have aged a bit poorly, so to speak, and that most of my requests listed here will indeed be applied; especially for the weapons racks part, since obviously a small infirmary would be a nice addition, but I don’t really believe it. I hope I’m not mistaken in the idea that I’m not the only one pointing out the few possible improvements for this ship, which deserves a lot of love, as it is mythical in the Star Citizen universe. Thank you for reading this topic, and I hope you enjoyed it. This was Captain Bowen, end of transmission.
