(Please note; This is copied from the Concierge section of Spectrum. I wanted some more eyes on this and I'm hoping you all could help get this post noticed. Thank you for your time.) To one and all. I do not wish to stir up the nest, so to speak, but I really hope the Sentinel is thought through thoroughly (like the alliteration?). I understand the that development of ESM/ECM/EW is in work for the Warden-Sentinel. I have a publication that I would be happy to share with the developers if they are willing to do some reading on the topic (research purposes only of course). This document is more of a text book and is in no way classified. If your development team is willing, they can download the PDF version of this text from: https://www.pdfdrive.com/electronic-warfare-fundamentals-e13606116.html (chapter 9 is a good starting point) I am a former US Navy Aviator who, in planning for all types of missions over hostile territory, relied heavily on the capabilities of our organic and US Air Force brethren for electronic warfare (EW). It is there, I hope, some time will be dedicated to understanding the role of the Sentinel in this game (that I adore, by the way). I'm not asking that the Sentinel be the wizard ship that I've heard people complaining about (i.e. it's worthless...it will only work ship-to-ship, there is no point to it, it's too powerful, etc...). I simply ask that it's capabilities be commensurate with the position it holds in the larger theater-wide combat roll it should occupy. ESM/EW/ECM ships should, for the most part, be able to scare the living crap out of an opposing force by either masking or exaggerating the actual size of an attacking or defending force. To add to that capability, it should also have the ability to launch decoys, programmed prior to launch, to simulate large ships or groups of smaller ships on the opposing force screens. Finally, it should be able to severely interfere with the opposing forces ability to communicate. I know that this is a long-shot and that the devs' have a lot of things going on. So...here's to hoping someone would pass this info on to someone who could use it and adapt it to this futuristic game. That said, maybe they can enhance it too.
