For atmospheric flight, we're seeing a very strange behavior in game. The wind is TURNING ships on their yaw axis, so that they eventually have their noses pointing into the headwind. (or could be tailwind, not sure which actually, but it's one or the other). I think this is a horrible thing to have in the game for several reasons. 1) It is not realistic AT ALL. This is not what happens to airplanes in real life. Let's say you're flying due north at 100 knots, and there is a crosswind blowing east at 30 knots. The end result is that your airplane will be technically flying 100 units north and 30 units east BUT your airplane will still be pointed due north. The wind cannot change that unless you are flying into a friggin' tornado. Winds cause planes to drift (aka, strafe), not to turn (aka, yaw). (source: pilot) 2) It is really annoying, and it feels broken. And not only annoying on a conceptual level. But also from a gameplay perspective where you'd like to hold a heading but can't because for some reason the ship is acting like someone stepped on an invisible rudder pedal! (source: gamer) Now that said, there IS one situation where a plane might turn based on the wind. And that is ONLY if the plane is tied down onto the ground by the nose. Then, if the wind blows hard enough, the tie-down rope would cause the plane to pull on it and then point into the wind. Given that 3.10 is supposed to address a lot of atmospheric flight characteristics, the question I would like to ask the devs is: will this be fixed? Because if this is intentional, then it is very very wrong and you should hire some actual IRL pilots as consultants. EDIT: Most of the replies here are by people who think I'm wrong. I'd like to state for the record that these people clearly have no idea what they're talking about - especially the ones that claim to be pilots. Also, adding pictures. And, this webpage does a good job of describing Wind Drift. Please read it. https://www.flightliteracy.com/effect-of-wind-on-aircraft/
