I think the Foundry deck idea is awesome but wanted to suggest something. The images I saw in the video had a air refinery going and in space I think that would be impractical. The heavy high temperature gas loads would really be taxing on any infrastructure. Many element today are refined in rare atmospheres and vacuum furnaces. My Suggestion: Space foundries melt the ore out side the facility in a electromagnetically confine area. The molten ore will form a ball in weightlessness. This ball of molten material would then be spun to separate the materials by their atomic mass by using the centrifugal force of the rotation. Can we do something like that?
