There has always been a lot of speculation on the scope of SQ42 and people have made many guesses and comparisons to other single player games but I think many players would like to hear an official response to this question. I don't think it's an unfair ask as it doesn't spoil any SQ42 content and it's a ballpark question. Since SQ42 is well into it's development with an estimated ~2 years left (as stated from an ISC video a few months ago), I believe you can give players a pretty good estimate based on your initial content hour goal vs. where it's going to be barring any changes in the next few years. What contemporary game(s) will SQ42 most closely resemble as far as content hours and game world size on release? It's my understanding SQ42 will be episodic so we may very well get a series of expansions or a staggered campaign release. The only content hours mentioned that I could find on Squadron 42 is the main splash page that mentions "over 10 hours" of mo-cap associated with prolific actors. For comparison, below are a few examples of some well-regarded contemporary AAA single player campaigns, some sci-fi and some not, with listed content hours and development times sourced from the internet (if there are errors, please let me know). The content hours range anywhere from 15-100+ hours depending on the main story quests, side quests, and overall game world size. Mass Effect was 17 hours (main questline) - 42 hours (completionist) and took 3.5 years to develop. (source: Wiki) Mass Effect 2 was 24.5 hours (main questline) - 50 hours (completionist) and took 2 years to develop. (source: Wiki) Red Dead Redemption was 17.5 hours (main questline) - 26 hours (completionist) and took 5 years to develop. (source: Wiki) RDR2 was 50 hours (main questline) to 179 hours (completionist) and took 8+ years to develop. (source: Wiki) Cyberpunk 2077 was 24 hours (main questline) - 103 hours (completionist) and took 9 years to develop. (source: HowLongtoBeat / Quora) Starfield is estimated to be 30-40 hours (main questline) and 120 hours (completionist) and took 8 years to develop. (source: GamesRadar / Gfinityesports) I would think / hope, with the development timeline for SQ42, it would probably align with the more content heavy examples on the list?
