(NOTE: When I say "flight model" I'm refering to the flight model not hover mode.) (EDIT: Note 2. The issue happens at ANY speed. From full speed to 0. Without exception.) Why is the flight model so bad, and when is it getting replaced or fixed? The flight model was, problematic, but functional upto 3.4, the flight model was bad in 3.5 PTU, it was bad in 3.5, it was bad in 3.5.1,it was bad in 3.6.0, it was bad in 3.6.1, and it is bad in 3.6.2. I speak no hyperbole when I say that it is litterally the part of star citizen I hate the most. Desync I can live with. 30k's I can live with. Unreasonably long commute times I can deal with. Greifers, cheaters, and exploiters, I can deal with, simply for the fact that I don't know if I'm going to encounter them or not. The flight model? I know for absolute certain I have to deal with it. If I could sit down with the devs and have them prioritize one thing, and one thing only, it wouldn't be pushing out my unreleased ships, It wouldn't be server meshing, it wouldn't even be client side performance improvments. It would be fixing the flight model. It's not fun to struggle to simply point in a dirrection, nor is it immersive. I have never been drawn into the game, I've never been lost in the 'Verse when I'm steering as hard and frantically right as possible, while continuing to calmly drift to the left. ( It feels like maneuvering thrusters get limited to a third of their power when they're being used to come to a stop.) No instead I have thoughts of "Why can't this just work?" and "For the love of all that's holy can you just work with me here? FFS!" with my frustration building and building until it becomes legitimate anger and I just want to throw everything I can get my hands on across the room. It is rare to see a movement mechanic so diametrically adverse to the will of the player using it, to cause legitimate anger. There are many things that are said to be doing it's job when you don't have to think about them. Infastructure, cleaning services, communication networks, and logistics to name a few. A primary movement mechanic in a game belongs on that list too. In any combat scenario I spend far more time fighting my ship, instead of the enemy's, and that just seems like something is fundamentally wrong. [Edited by CIG Moderation] This is quickly eschewed, as such behavior is extremely out of character for them. My final thought is that they haven't had time to try it yet. They just cobbled something together, pushed it out, and moved along to the next task on their board so they can meet their deadline. This, I feel, is as likely and unfortunate, as it is understandable. If you have one take away from this post is that, I love Star Citizen, and I love being in the 'Verse. I want to see the game be the best version of itself that it can. One where it's not a chore to fly, but rather, something fun to do. I love Star Citizen just like I love Disneyland. Just as I wouldn't want to experience Disneyland with a steak knife plunged hilt-deep underneath my knee cap, so too do I not want to experience Star Citizen with the current flight model, and for many of the same reasons, not the least of which is that both make an ordeal out of what would have otherwise been an outstanding experience. So please, please fix it.
