Wouldn't it make sense to gradually move from one master mode to the other? Say the more power you give to the engine and quantum components the less there is power available to the shields and weapons where at the highest points of nav mode you have 0 shields 0 guns and it is all guns and all shields in combat mode (or whatever it will be called). So you could still go fast and have that very high speed limit, but the faster you go the worse your components function after a certain speed limit. Just have systems turning off after at a certain point: say, past 500m/s weapons switch off and past 700m/s shields starting to switch off, too. That way you could gradually enter into whatever mode and be ready to engage or run instead of flipping the switch. Especially good for running, where instead of having shields turned off right off the bat, you would still have them until you reach much higher speeds that would allow you to escape. And it would eliminate jousting as approaching the battle on high speeds we see now will still require you to slow down to reactivate the system and suffer as the consequence from a delay required to do so. Overall, I am looking forward to master modes, but the binary system of it doesn't sound very immersive.
