Aurora afterburner speeds aren't equal to engine capability When combat speeds were adjusted (lowered) in 2.6.1 most of us felt this change was much needed and brought better game-play and balance to the combat experience. But recently I noted that the afterburner speeds are not proportionate to the ship type or engine capability. The best example of this is an RSI Aurora compared to a RSI Constellation. Currently both have a combat (SCM) speed of 150 m/s which, for most part is decent. But when afterburners are engaged not only does the Constellation's maneuverability decrease and have a longer acceleration time (which I agree it should) but it's maximum speed (450 m/s) is EQUAL to that of an Aurora! How can this be? Considering the overwhelming engine specs of the Constellation (4 - TR5) versus the Aurora (1 - TR3) the MOST/MAXIMUM afterburner speed an Aurora, which by the way falls into the "Starter" ship category, should be able to reach is maybe 250 m/s (which still places it 50 m/s slower than a Drake Caterpillar with 2-TR5's at full afterburner). Why would a "starter" ship (i.e. Aurora or Mustang) have better engine performance giving it a VERY unfair and unbalanced advantage during an engagement?
