I like the way our cities look. But I have to admit that they feel terribly restrictive. Not only because of a lack of player and NPC. ( which is perfectly understandable at this stage of development. ) But because as soon as you leave space, and get into Lorville, or Arccorp you fall into a narrowed path that leaves you no choice as to how you wish to approach that environment. In Lorville's case for example, you land into Riker's spaceport gotta get careful with that no fly zone... Then, you take an elevator to reach the customer area, the scanners, and finally the metro. For Arccorp that's even worse considering you have no gates and only one plaza to visit. You can't land anywhere else from the space port and then reach area 18, you can't go underground, or reach the sewers, nor can you have a small plaza on an unoccupied roof, with some benches and NPC tanning their skin in some random removed area of Arccorp. You can't really visit any building at all, even in Arccorp plaza, you really never leave the plaza. In Lorville you can't even land on ANY rooftops at all! What a waste! These cities as grandiose as they may look make me feel trapped, limited, hungry for more as they force me to walk a narrow, unique and repetitive path. When you think these places are supposed to be the heart of commerce and cultural exchange for an entire solar system intertwined with the rest of the entire verse! It's even more difficult to buy. And I think it's too bad considering the impressive amount of freedom SC grants us! Because this is all an alpha, I have no idea how much all of this is still planned, or just fantasies. Therefore, I'll just ask here: :slightly_smiling_face: Are we going to have other ways to commute between neighborhoods, landing zones on the planets or districts other than the metro ? (AI flying small ships, sewers, walking or even AI flying taxis in these lanes that we see in Arccorp lower levels) Are we going to have more districts in cities (like 4 or 5 metro stops with different vistas and places. Industrial, trading, residential or a district full of bar/nightclubs to relax for example) Are we going to be able to go within the buildings on which you can already land on Arccorp, New Babbage. (NB already allows you to get into the rooftops airlocks!) Will we have different ways to reach the commerce areas? So that we'd be able to land somewhere else than the spaceport and still commute through the cities, or land closer to the main landing zones (like these demos in which we saw a connie landing just next to Arccorp Plaza) Will we see some smaller villages and structures spawning on planets? Actually populated by NPCs and commerce OTHER than outposts. (can't believe that in a solar system with a coruscant like planet, most of the other worlds are almost complete deserts. Stanton is supposed to be a very populated system, but it's mostly empty appart from Arccorp) Will it be possible in the future to get an "open" city like new Babbage but with actual "plein air" life, and NPCs not being hidden and restrained to a NFZ protected landing area? Will we be able to land on top of the Lorville Building ? And come on this one is really a fantasy, but just because I'm curious... Would it be technically feasible in the fairly far future to remove most of the Arccorp NFZ in order to land almost everywhere and see procedural NPCs living their lives ? To sum this post up, I just wish to know what's planned for the cities. I can't help but feel worried, are you going to keep expanding? Add many new locations but still make them as restrictive as they currently are? Or are you going to overhaul these cities before we expand to far in the verse ? Thank you guys!
