I'm really excited for local inventory coming online. So I've started playing Ark: Survival Evolved and its expansions again lately to get an idea of the risk of carrying items locally. A bit of a disclaimer that this isn't my field of profession (networking etc.) and the questions I'm asking stem from my excitement of the feature coming in and wanting to understand more about it to explain to other friends! In games like Ark Evolved (online included) where local inventory is prominent, if you die multiple times, the inventory of your bodies still remain in that location and you can recover them. Of course, these servers arguably may not have as much work to do as those dedicated to SC with everyone (even for 50 players) doing many interesting things in different locations. Now, hypothetically speaking, assuming someone is on a server that does not 30k, will there be any concerns about the server managing multiple bodies of the same character having different items, or will ICache services be able to handle this in 3.15, given how we know that before, these things had to be managed by the backend and not an intermittent service like ICache? I know it's a bit of a 'dumb' question given how scalable iCache is being designed to be for the scale of the game, but as is all things in SC, it's incremental change and improvement, so I'm curious about what to expect in 3.15. I ask this just out of curiosity because of two things regarding current server states right now as opposed to later on where servers will be more than capable (given server meshing, entity graph etc.): 1. If the same player dies somewhere on Hurston, then dies somewhere on Microtech on the same server without any 30ks, so on and so forth, what we've been told is, for now, temporary copies will be placed to mimic our death states while we revive. In that regard, are these copies seen as non-player entities now, so much that the server does not have to keep the object containers open (as it has to do if a living player exists via SSOCS in a certain area)? I'm guessing they'll be now tagged as items just like a crate so SSO containers won't need to be open? 2. How expensive is the player copy if they die multiple times, that the server may have to 'deal' with having 10 copies or more copies in different locations? Again, I'm talking about the now, just out of curiosity and not the measures that will of course be taken to manage these things later on when global persistence and other factors come online. When some folks outside the community ask about stuff like this, they ask as if it's the final product, when we know, it's an incremental thing on our way to the final thing.
