Hello ! Recently we learned a bit more about long range scanning probes and the role they'll play into the Exploration role. But I still have some questions. Up until this point, most if not all exploration ships were marketed as having better scanning equipement than the rest. Letting me think the role would be based on this. You scan the space around you, some signatures comes back and you choose based on what you know and what your ship tells you. Leading you to some discovery in the end after a bit of... exploring. Be it a derelict ship, rocks or more. But right now with the last stream it seems exploration is completly based on these long range probes. So I'm wondering, will these probes really be the start of the job ? Necessary for all exploration ships to start finding things ? Or maybe something more to add complexity to bigger exploration ships like the Carrack ? The second option makes more sense to me. With the RSI Orion, we know bigger ships in a role are not really better, but mainly more complex. If these probes are dedicated to the long range kind of exploration ships, they'll add something more. Instead of doing exactly the same thing but better if you go from a Free DUR to a Carrack, you would have more things to think about. I would love to have an answer on this, long range probes for all exploration ships or for only the long range kind ? Thanks for reading and have a good day :slightly_smiling_face:
