So, I understand the reasoning here. The idea is to slow ships down so that there's more than simply jousting. I do however feel, that this new mode is rather ham fisted in forcing it upon players. Compounded by turning shields off during quantum (btw, do all drives generate a deflector field? I thought the shields handled that?). The speed cap is especially ham fisted. Please CIG, please Chris......stop forcing speed caps like this. Mach 3 as a speed cap in game is silly. And 300m/s (about .8 Mach), combat in space is even worse. It's the turbo-future and I'd think that ships would be faster than say, an F15 which, as it stands....wouldn't even burp much as it shreds its way through several of our ships. Can we please get away from the WWII in space thing? Because, if that's what you guys REALLY want then I suggest you go watch some actual gun cam footage from actual WWII aerial engagements. Once someone has a firing angle and puts rounds on target, the other guy typically dies in one or two bursts or is at least rendered ineffective. Personally, I'd LOVE ships weapons to hit this hard in our game but I think I'm in a minority here. But either way, WWII in space does NOT equate to hobbled speeds and bullet sponges. Easy way to actually get WWII in space? Easy.....remove gravity field generators and compensators. Remove quantum drives. Lower every acceleration rate/nerf engines to the point that we all crawl along and need larger ships to be able to move from planet to planet......presto, instantly slow AF ships that justifies "master mode" as a thing and would make for pretty close WWII combat because you couldn't move more than your pilot's body could handle. I really hope this master mode thing annoys people so hard that they rebel and it gets removed.....because I want this game to eventually be my main game that I play for years, and this kind of decision making, this ONE thing "mode" .....is a back breaker CIG, it's a sell all my stuff on gray market and swear at you instead of singing your praises for years and...I don't want to be that person. Please reconsider this mode and slowing things down in general. Why not keep speeds high but simply bring ships and weapons up to snuff to deal with it???
