Hello Community and CIG, greetings @ABrown_CIG . I think we all can concur that orbiting planets are a feature, vital to a space simulation. However, it seems as CIG has certain problems with that. Therefore I wanted to lend a hand again, so that we can finally get our planets moving. To that end, I've written the following lines, which alas do not fit into one post, not even in a shortened down version, for which not only will I have to link important points into this main post, but also I've made the attached YouTube video ( https://youtu.be/8k28SWDN7L4 ), with drawings and a bit more detailed explanations as it additionally might favour those that prefer to listen and see, rather than just read. Orbiting planets) is already in the code and could be turned on at any time. The only problem preventing them from turning it on, would be the speed of the orbiting planets and the resulting problems to quantum travel. As in, you jump to the location of a planet from far away, but the planet is moving while you're in flight, so you miss it (or hit it). Why is it vital: This is a SPACE simulation, 20 years after Freelancer. We should not even have to discuss this. I know it's no ones fault or intention, hence I raise some hopefully helpful ideas. Aside from my opinion here, I've got a few arguments in the attached video. Programmable Solutions: I've come up with two different viable solutions to the problem, so that CIG may implement the one that fits them. Depending on the way CIG wants to go with this, they could implement either of them.
