So in short why don't these ships have a q-drive? It can't be because they are snub craft, when the Pisces is a snub craft. If the MPUV is to be an effective crew passenger ship or the cargo variant is to be good at it's job then it needs to be able to get from one side of the planet to another in a reasonable amount of time. Say for instance you have a Javelin parked at Everest harbor over Loreville, and you have to pickup a crew person from the far side of Hurston. Well you could move the several thousand ton ship for a couple of people, or you can fly for several hours in a MPUV at a snail's pace. Or you could put a size 1 q-drive on the MPUV with a very limited 50-100unit fuel tank. That is enough quantum fuel for a few in planatery system jumps but not enough to really get far from the mother ship.
