When there was talk about a physics based damage system I was thinking about proper armour mechanics and deflection angles with ballistic armour penetration. But today im not so sure. The regular "trope" of gameplay is that everything is ablative armour/hp with some damage mitigation and not damage BLOCKING (WoT does it rather well). - Will we have regular "ablative armour" or proper damage blocking armour? The latter would be preferred since it would reduce the "X DPS is king" and instead focus on weapon groups and armament for a specific job. It also removes the 100 people with .22 pistols blowing up a bunker with 2 feet steel armour by force of attrition which is so silly its not even funny. - S1 ballistic with penetrator round could have the armour impact of a S2 gun against armour - S2 ballistic could have hi-ex and do S1 weapon damage but have AOE effect and work well against infantry - Melted armour from energy weapon hits could loose their defensive value, allowing smaller ballistics to penetrate thicker armour - S1 guns would not really be able to penetrate capital ship armour (as it should be)
