So, I am not sure there is a Pilot's Union yet... but there should be. If there was, I am hoping that this would be amongst the requests they made for the improvement of Quality of Life of pilots. 1. Better lit spaceports - These should be incredibly well illuminated and NOT by putting Lampposts in the middle of the taxiways (seriously?, flight hazard) I should be able to see a spaceport.. from space. In fog, in rain, in snowstorms. an IFR beacon would be immensely helpful as well. 2. No more ground hazards - Enough with the lampposts in the middle of the taxiways. 3. Why are we trying to play 'operation' and putting our ships in a hole in the ground? How about elevators that either come up to ground level.. or above and lower us into the hangar. Same when we depart, bring us up to ground level. please. Same with Orbital Stations.. slide an elevator out of the hangar, let me land on it then move me in.. much safer. 4. ATC with actual effective ATC range.. I shouldn't be on top of the spaceport before they acknowledge me and hand out an assignment.. they should know I am coming in and wish to land from 50Km out (at an absolute minimum). 5. Landing assignments visible from a reasonable distance.. being 3K away from the landing location before I see the icon? dangerous.. VERY dangerous. If I request a landing, how about knowing where I am going from about 15K away, let me navigate hazards (other pilots) etc.. 6. Autopilot is useless if you can't kick it in until you're already in the hangar, and when that crackhead AI decides that I am pointing the wrong way in my caterpillar and tried to turn me around in the hangar... well, let's just say I was not impressed. 7. The option to force putting a ship into storage. We know if we're going to be staying a while.. why not free up some traffic jams (Levski) when people land and wander off (Levski), or when you only have large pads, but put one tiny little Pisces in it (Levski) and tie the place up forever. 8. A quick button that connects us to ATC (or an MFD that actually updates when ATC is in range, and let's us just click the icon from there) Having to take my eyes off the landing area increases the possibility of mid-air collisions. Don't Mobi and Fly! Ok, not unreasonable, would go a long way to make our spaceports safer and more efficient. -G- P.S. #9 - Either an MFD with a 'Landing view' (complete with aiming crosshairs), or replace the radar screen with a holographic/representation of the landing area and our relative position to it. There are only a few ships with a 'between the legs' downward view (ala Constellation, hammerhead).
