This is from the card on the roadmap: New controls and functional UI will be added for turrets. Fixed weapons (on ships and turrets) get more computer assists, which will make them viable choices, especially for multicrew. Additionally, tweaks to PIP calculation improve the stability for hitting targets in all aiming modes. My question is: How exactly are you "assisting" fixed weapons to be more viable choices for a ship? Not talking about turrets in this case. Are we talking a small amount of gimbal assist or we need to have ESP enabled? I'm asking because since 3.0 I cannot even consider using ESP anymore. I tried multiple times, but it's so intrusive and annoying that I always turn if off. At this point I simply cannot use fixed weapons at all. I remember in 2.6 ESP was fine, it worked pretty well and never felt nearly as intrusive as it is right now. Now ESP takes control of my ship, it fights me when I'm maneuvering and often it even prevents me from reaching the PIP. Sometimes it even moves my ship by itself if I'm stationary and just target another ship. If this is by design, maybe you can consider adding different "levels" of ESP assistance? Something like "Active ESP" and "Passive ESP". Passive meaning never ever moving the ship by itself, but only reducing a little tiny bit of stick sensitivity when the sight is touching the PIP? Thanks! I'm adding @DColson-CIG because I think this is his field. EDIT: First of all, thanks @YogiKlatt-CIG for answering and participating in the thread :+1: Now, I just wanted to point out a couple of things that in my opinion are important to take into account when talking about ESP: 1- As it was mentioned in the thread, there should be a clear difference and focus between an ESP made for joystick users (the original ESP goal) or an ESP made for mouse users. In my opinion, ESP should only be focused on joystick users. A mouse is inherently more precise and easy to use. Mouse users also have the clear advantage of being able to use regular (non-auto) gimbals with excellent precision (point and click, as simple as that). This is impossible to do with a joystick, and this lack of precision is the primary reason why a working implementation of ESP is needed. 2- We should make a clear difference between the current non-ideal behaviour because of lag, desync or other technical issues and a broken design logic. Technical issues will be eventually fixed, but a broken design won't ever work unless its changed from the ground up. Of course this is a bit subjective, but IMO the main problem with ESP right now is its main design logic. It's trying to do something it should not do. So, regardless of any technical changes in the game at a lower level, it will never work if the logic behind it is flawed. So the focus should be put into rethinking how it works from scratch instead of trying to "tweak it" to make it "better". This is just my opinion of course.
