Edit: Yes, the 'Ask the Developers' section probably would have been better! :slightly_smiling_face: If any players are aware of content/existing threads around this topic, that would be great too. It seems exceedingly unlikely that SC will launch with much of the promised star system scope (100 systems) as outlined in the original stretch goals - https://robertsspaceindustries.com/funding-goals but I'm just wondering what if/anything will be done to work around that? (this is not meant to be negative) Procedural generation in space, and indeed on planets/moons (i.e. outlaw bases, interesting shaped asteroids for players to build bases in, space junk etc.) seems like a good way to mitigate impact on overall player content experience and allow players to 'make their own fun' through economy, contracts, base building etc. even if many of the planned, promised or target features are never implemented into the game. Edit again: Others have educated me on the 'official' reduction in SC system scope from the original 100. Although even 5 - 10 systems might be ambitious in our lifetimes. So my question is: What is the current high level desired scope in terms of procedural generation of in-game assets? What other things may be procedurally generated in space? (moons, bases, big funny looking asteroids, enemy fleets, treasure?) What other assets (that we haven't seen already) will be generated planet side? Are there plans for any full systems to be completely generated through the discovery of jump points? will they also be randomly generated? And as a real curveball - is there intent to allow players to assist in map creation through tools, and then moderated in order to fill the empty world? Cheers!
