Ok, hear me out, The Turret chairs are 1940s tech. They take up a lot of space in the models. They can easily be replaced with remote turrets freeing up internal space on a lot of ships. If the ship is Small-medium size they should not have full scale chair rides into large turrets with small guns... this does not look good and they present larger targets. A gunner station or co-pilot can easily switch into a remote turret. Freeing up valuable internal Cargo space. A few ships I have begun deconstructing and opening up without the manned turrets and walkways or spaces for the chair ride. Offer a lot more options for internal space. The Caterpillar can increase its cargo hold to by almost double, removing the walkway that leads to a single turret chair. The MSR can increase its cargo hold area by more than 60% retaining the servers (rearranged) crawl tunnels(rearranged). The Cutlass could have a bathroom (like the RED) the cutlass cargo hold could have a flat back wall. (58 cargo). All with remote turrets. remote turrets also have a much smaller target size than manned turrets. Below are just a few 3d model pictures that I am working to re-arrange internals. no external modifications are needed except the remote turret. no paint schemes would be affected. The MSR can be converted to a true Exploration ship, putting a Med bed on front area of living quarters. the bathroom is opposite the entry door. Suit lockers can be fit at the wall where you turned to get to the chairs. servers all fit neatly against forward bulkhead. working on better door mechanism for the Caterpillar. the elevator function can use the landing gear as tracks to lower the side elevators. this would allow the old CAT to finally compete with the C-2 for carrying small craft and cargo space. The caterpillar "Modules" could be slid in as Huge cargo boxes as shown in the pictures. could allow players to swap out modules in their hangers this way. would have to use large tractor beam or ships tractor beam probably. as these module boxes are huge, May even allow for another shape of cargo box.
