Yesterday in testing chat @Wintermute-CIG had a short exchange which I want to understand deeper. See images attached. Myself and others in the community are very interested in exactly what is meant by no more spatial diviosions. See this reddit thread to see the confusion on the topic: https://www.reddit.com/r/starcitizen/comments/1fv5eep/havent_seen_this_shared_anywhere_dynamic/ My question is this: do you mean that servers will no longer be tied to an object container? I understand that even in static server meshing, there is a hierarchy of regions/server authority. But this comment seems to imply that a server could have authority over entity without respect to their spatial separation. Is that right? See images below for my conception of the network. The current (before server meshing) design. One server, one system, with however many object containers. Static Server meshing, one root server with several other servers permanently (at config time anyway), attached to specific object container regions. In this case there are 4 servers. Idk if this configuration is realistic, but the idea is the regions are tied to the server and dont change. The first image above: My understanding of the plan for dynamic server meshing, before seeing the messages from yesterday. Still have a root server but we also have other servers which can dynamically be created/destroyed to control any given set of object container regions (no need for them to be adjacent, just done by performance needs). Second Image above: What this comment seems to imply. All servers share control of the whole thing, instead of authority being passed based on spatial location, they will determine authority by some other method. My guess would be some kind of load balancing system. Is this even close to right?
