Star Citizen cares a lot about realism, except when it comes to space. It is a space game, but it cares much more about the sound when fruit hits the ground than it does about space: Gravity doesn't exist in space. At all. Decouple and you go in a straight line right past a planet, as if the planet wasn't there. Gravity doesn't care about running. Sound travels in vacuum. Even stuff you aren't touching makes sound. Vacuum is full of "space dust". Motion is not relative, so you can't EVA from one ship in motion to another. Stuff that you throw into space stops on its own, without using any technology to make it stop. Planets and planetary systems are scaled completely wrong. The Earth will be a cutesy anime Earth at this scale once it comes on-line. These are just the starting points. The most basic of all, the stuff everyone knows! There is so much more about space that can be fun and fascinating to discover, but we don't even have the most trivial and basic stuff. Star Citizen is a space game that cares a lot about realism, but it doesn't care about space. Not even a little bit. Is this the plan for release?
