I took to the Aegis Dynamics section of Spectrum to speak about my concerns and issues regarding the relationship between the Eclipse stealth bomber and the size 9 capital-class killer torpedo. I encourage you to read it before proceeding here so that it is clear where I'm coming from with this particular post and why my questions are being formulated towards the developers: https://robertsspaceindustries.com/spectrum/community/SC/forum/65292/thread/the-eclipse-nothing-more-than-a-b-2/3500645 The main take away from that post is that the size 9 torpedo is designed to strike against large targets that either are COMPLETELY static or slow moving. The Aegis Dynamics Eclipse is made to carry three of them and engage the same type of targets while remaining undetected (just like a B-2 Spirit). The recent changes to torpedoes have strengthened this idea and, as one of my friends said: "The Eclipse was a 1-trick pony, but that was not a problem because it did its one trick extremely well. Now, CIG isn't nerfing the pony, they're nerfing the trick, but since it's the only trick the Eclipse had, it feels - and I think is - unfair". So, as a proposition to give the Eclipse more purpose and functionality while still keeping it balanced from the "one tap" monstrosity it was, he thought of giving it the ability to mount something like 9 size 4 missiles on the interior with a specialized missile rack developed for its internal bay to the same manner that the Hornets can swap the ball turrets on the back. This would allow the Eclipse to transition from being just a B-2 style bomber to a much more capable platform. I believe the community is in agreement that the size 9 torpedo changes do make sense, but likewise they also preclude the Eclipse from having any capability of engaging small and medium ships at all. Is the Eclipse intended to only be capable of engaging large and capital class targets? If so, can you clearly state this, to remove any ambiguity? If not, are there plans to give the Eclipse other size missiles it can launch, or some other plan to enable it to hit targets that can easily evade a size 9 torpedo?
