Right now, capital ships are functionally useless against any opponent who is not concerned with dying, because even an Aurora can destroy a Polaris or Idris or any other large multi-crew ship or capital ship, by ramming into it at full speed, taking it instantly to full-death. Do this with a stealth ship, and you won't even be able to see the attack coming until the target has seconds or less to react. Until this is fixed, capital ships will be useless in any real fight where their opponents don't care about dying. My personal recommendation is to cap the damage that can be received by a collision at the max HP of the ship/object/subcomponent/etc. that is being collided with. The way this would work, if a fighter with 10K HP collides with a capital ship with 2 million HP, the 10K HP fighter is destroyed because it can receive up to 2 million points of damage from the ship, but the capital ship only takes 10K points of damage, because the object it's colliding with maxes out at 10K HP. That's still a ton of damage, and can be potentially catastrophic to a ship that's low on health (allowing ramming to be , but prevents a lone fighter from one-shot-KOing a capital ship.
