Now that we have the Gen12 renderer and the growing popularity of macOS, especially in the laptop space due to its efficiency, one begs to ask. What would it take to support Apple Silicon/Metal/macOS? With EAC and the requirement of AVX2/SIMD and ARM64 having no equivalents, it makes it impossible to play sadly which feels like a missed opportunity, especially in the case of giving life to the macOS gaming scene, perhaps taking it over by storm since Apple Gaming doesn't have a lot of popular games at all. The performance of Apple Silicon is definitely there now. Now, I know macOS makes up a minority in the market but, so does Linux and macOS inherits many things from Linux (Linux, but pretty) so... And yes I understand the greatest challenge would be the Metal API in that respect since well, it's entirely different. Perhaps MoltenVK can help directly or/and indirectly. It would also seem apt to support macOS since, although doing it in Apple's strange ways, they are pushing the gaming scene finally. I'm sure people in-company would also greatly appreciate having a macOS port, since iv seen quite a few MacBooks. Do the devs have any interest in this? Is this an eventual want? Is it planned at all? Have the devs been poking at it at all to see its viability? It would be helpful especially if we got a bullet list with explanations of what the current hurdles are, if any are applicable.
