I am aware of the amazing plan to incorporate pipes/power lines/modules/components into ships in the near future. Surely this is the perfect time to shift the paradigm to something more realistic and gameplay enhancing? In this regard, I would love to hear from any developers as to whether SC is planning to move away from simplistic concept of ship HP (0 HP = ship goes boom) Surely a much more fitting/natural approach to the new amazing ship components system would be to have ships be disabled after having taken massive damage due to their components/modules being damaged, with explosions of ship only happening in rare situations? (when the reactor/torpedo bay/explosive component is hit/damaged) It seems really out of place for a game as revolutionary as SC to be using the tired and lazy mechanic of ship HP (guaranteed, hopefully placeholder mechanic, of certain explosion at 0 HP as we currently see in the PU and AC) It seems logical that if HP is to remain, it should be adapted to ship structural integrity which should be massively buffed for almost all ships so that actually making a ship disintegrate would take a huge amount of time, unless there is a lucky/rare hit on a component or interior module which makes it explode (obviously having missiles providing more chance to do so) Clearly, the advantages of this would be numerous (pirates mostly having intact ships to board & loot, target players not being guaranteed destruction if they lose a dogfight and having a second chance to turn the tide, repair ships actually having real purpose if the victim survives the boarding and sends out a distress beacon/repair request) and would be a much needed and long awaited shift away from a simplistic mechanic that older games had no choice but to use due to computing & programming limitations of the past (limitations which SC does not suffer from) So to rephrase my question: Will the new ship mechanics system (pipes/modules/components) result in less ships exploding?
