Aimbots are in very few games. Having an aimbot is more broken than not. Fixed weapons do not need aimbots. Gimbals should be the sole exception. With the Ion's aiming changes, its fixed weapon's aimbot was disabled. Many players think that the pip should still magically cause the projectiles to be shot as tho the crosshair was in the dead center of the pip. This hidden change has caused them to think that the Ion can no longer shoot precisely. However, the Ion still shoots very precisely, it just requires proper aiming. Referring back to Privateer (or was it Wing Commander?), the PIP should: be a circle, shrink the closer the crosshair is to where the projectile would hit the target's center of mass, incorporate the target's current acceleration and deceleration, only turn green when the projectile would hit anywhere on the target, and have an additional PIP for each different weapon type/velocity. Fixed weapon aimbot is a broken mechanic because it forces the projectile towards an unwanted trajectory while preventing players from becoming more skilled, it needs to be optional and require a blade slot. By improving the PIP and making the aimbot optional, players will be better capable of improving their accuracy. Removing the aimbot from all fixed weapons is a fix that we should expect and accept.
