Heralding the arrival of the Ironclad begets a slow death of an old friend. With the current build up in Evo, I wanted to point out a few things that might be missed, and a few things that could just be place holder, but I wanted a record just in case we never see it change. I had already messaged with MGibson, who noted the Gold Standard for the Caterpillar would not make it into 4.8, but had been scoped out, but there wasn't space to finish the job and they didn't want to half job it. Which is good in my opinion. But that doesn't clarify the plan with the Command Module, or how the Caterpillar will be effected overall. Its worth noting that the Command Pod in this build is the Ironclad's Command Pod, not the Caterpillar Command pod. They are both different, image below showing the amenities, even though it says 6 jump seats and we now see 10. (there are also only racks for 4 total weapons in that entire ship, and the current Caterpillar command pod has 2 racks with 10 total weapons... The Ironclad offering 6 (now 10 in the 4.8 build) jump seats for crew and only 2 weapons The Caterpillar offering no jump seats, but 4 weapons. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/media/is6ku3kvmaoprr/source/DrakeIronclad_SpecSheet.pdf Edit: as of the Wave 1 patch today, the Command Module now has the 4 weapons and all the jump seats... so it appears they are condensing the two into one, unless they just feel like never talking about this stuff. This feels almost as bad as when CIG changed the Drake Dragonfly from a Snub and Merlin competitor, to a simple bike. We know they are different command pods, as the Q&A for the Ironclad states the two pods are interchangeable... but it is CIG, this might just be a stop gap to keep it flyable. https://robertsspaceindustries.com/en/comm-link/engineering/20006-Q-A-Drake-Ironclad Unfortunately, lovers of the Cat will hate the patch. So far it lost; 1s3 powerplant, (now only 23 pips for the whole ship) 2s3 weapons, in fact, it lost all pilot weapons when attached to the body. Overall the Caterpillar got a HUGE nerf with this change, unfortunately, there aren't enough Caterpillar enjoyers to raise a fuss about it like the Galaxy and other popular ships. Which is a shame at the end of the day. Bring Back the Rings to Pyro 4. Burn yourself alive (no, this is not a threat, it is a quote from the fire rats in the CZ... IDK why people keep reporting this) -WaffleInsanity
