Jared has made it abundantly obvious that there will be more than enough land. Will there be more than enough resources for everyone in UEE space though? The land claims have implications that alter the gaming landscape. It's not just about a beacon or land claims. In the big picture, it looks like it's about pushing us out of UEE space, into consequence free pvp zones, to get the resources that will be needed for progression. "It's just like getting a license to mine in today's world so we wanted to put some structure and that doesn't mean that you can't go outside of UEE space and just mine without a license and that would be fine too, its just a bit more risky." -CR (1) CR is comparing this land claim to a mining license for secured space because you will need the "license" to lock down the rare resources used in character progression. CR's statement doesn't bring me to a logical conclusion that there will be enough resources for everyone and that those resources will be evenly spread out. "I want to secure an area that is rich in resources, and I want to mine it. Of Course if you have a claim to it, you are sort of protected. Otherwise you could be mining this resource and a bunch of other people could be trying to come in and take it from you. (ie: they claim it)" - CR (2) Again, it looks like there is a competition for resources in spite of the fact that there is plenty of real estate for everyone. ..."Someone scouts and there is a really rich resource mine... and that's kind of what happened in the land rush in the wild west as well. So we kind of wanted to emulate that. And the land rush.". CR (3) Another statement that looks like there will be plenty of land but a scarcity of resources. "...there will be resources on most of the celestial bodies, some will be richer than other ones." CR (4) It does not look like everyone will be able acquire the rarer resources they need for their progression from UEE land titles. We have been told that their will be grades of fuel for the starfarers to create. In the repair doc, we were told there would be grades of metal. The nice resources will be in limited quantities, and you better put a claim on it if you find it... or someone else will.
