(Originally posted to Hardware, 7.24) Good afternoon, Here I have provided a homebrew binding chart for my personal HOTAS arrangement- these binds also include my inversion settings for intuitive motion. These binds may or may not feel natural to others, that is fine. This is meant more as a guide to help new STECS owners get their bearings initially, and makes use of a short slope detent - angled toward the user - just beneath the 50% mark; the reason for this is a tactile response when crossing the forward/backward thrust threshold. You could say a smart move would have been to include the .XML I use for my bindings, but that would also make a sweeping change to everyone's FPS settings- and the level of arrowkey and numpad heresy happening over here is considered socially unacceptable. So we won't do that. The punchline to that is I'm not even lefthanded, so figure that one out. -ANYWAY- The STEM has been set up to support salvage and mining operations, but you may repurpose this however you like. "But why is the big red button not bound?!?", I hear you scream. In truth, I planned to bind this to "request jump", but I believe that can be shared with "request landing" (unless it can't), so there it is, in all its glory- unused. Bind it however you please. It's important to note I am also a new owner. I have had the set approximately four months but this is not the first binding setup I have used. That's to say, if you think of something better for a button, do that instead. I'm interested in hearing whether this helps someone and whether they streamline it to their preference. That is all. o7
