A desk that secretly doubles as a SimPit Long time backer here. I've watched the development of Star Citizen over the years and I'm itching to get more involved in the game/community. Before I do that I want to make a nice gaming setup for myself. I've looked at every SimPit I can find on the internet. Some people have made some really cool custom pits! Unfortunately, I can't dedicate a space to something unique like a full-on SimPit. That leaves me dreaming to pursue a desk that doubles as a SimPit. I have a few gripes with using a normal desk. I don't like the way the joysticks/switches/extra screens are all over the desk when not in use. I'm too lazy to disconnect everything and set it all up again every time I want to play. Particularly with Star Citizen, I want the luxury of full ergonomic access to my gamepad, keyboard, and mouse when In FPS. Then in an instant be able to switch to my dual joysticks for flight. (I do not prefer a joystick in the center.) I've seen plenty of setups where a 10 keyless keyboard is used with a joystick to the right and the mouse to the right of the joystick. Which seems to be the best solution I've seen so far for dual joystick setup. For me, it's not without its faults....this might sound crazy but I do not want the extra movement of my right hand/arm to get around the joystick to type on the keyboard (..yeah I'm that lazy) I also want my normal mouse/pad desk real estate. I think I might have found a solution to my gripes...I'm saving up the money to make a prototype. Does anyone else have these same pains as me? Are there any other gripes you guys have with SimPit desks that you feel are not being addressed? I'm ultimately making it for myself. I'm just curious if other people have the same interest in a desk. I want to help Star Citizen be successful and more accessible to gamers in a similar predicament as mine. I want more people to be able to play in comfort and style. Perhaps I need to make a prototype and show it to you guys before I can really get an accurate assessment.
