I made my "simpit" one year and a half ago, taking my time, from october to january. To inspire me for that, I used this section of the forum and also other forums. So even I'm late, it's time for me to share it with you. I wanted something that gathers all the following criteria: ergonomic, for both ship and FPS gameplay the possibility to quickly switch between ship and FPS it can be used for a traditional desktop use too it is possible to switch from desktop to simpit in a reasonnable time fully adjustable I get the solution with the following setup. To do it I first took a lot of measurements and bought a car seat from a scrapyard. It has the four adjustments: rear/front translation, inclination, height, lumbar. But there was 2 issues with it (I anticipated the first one, the second was more annoying): first the sides of the seat are a problem for the range of motion of the elbows, especially when applying full back stick or thrust on minimum; secondly the base of the seat is inclined upwards which brings the knee quite high near the keyboard tray. So I removed some foam of the seat at these places. It was a big improvement for the elbow, but for the knee, there was not so much margin for progress: when switching to ship mode, I have to raise and retract the keyboard tray of an accurate amount in order to have the knee free and be able to use keyboard and mouse if necessary (even if the goal is to avoid to touch it in the ship mode!). So I use an ergonomic keyboard tray from Humanscale (6G) with a keyboard without the numpad so that it fits between the throttle and the stick. And my Thrustmaster Warthog are bind to the desk with Monstertech mounts... really solid. If it moves, it is only because the desk moved! The stick, the throttle, the keyboard and the mouse are all in a very good position. The only improvement I could do on this side would be to replace the keyboard plate + mouse platform by a custom plate (cut to fit between throttle and stick) for both the keyboard and the mouse. And I use the Crosswind rudder pedals (V2, in black). They are screwed (using the holes provided for this purpose) to the base wood plank. Between them I added black carpet tiles to fit my "black cockpit design". After buying the car seat, I modeled everything on Sketchup before doing the "wood work". For example I chose the section of the wood beam to one centimeter in order to have an ideal height. My head is exactly in the middle of the screen. And here is how it looks like when it is in "desktop mode": the joystick is stored using hooks below the desktop, the throttle is above my rolling box and the rudder pedals stay in place, I just move the seat backwards and the base forward to have a reasonnable foot clearance and be close to the desk. At the beginning I used Thrustmaster scripts, but in January (2018) I begin to code my own tool in order to be able to couple my pedals with the stick and throttle (... and when I really want something). The tool is available on GitHub and is already functional. I did a test today with my last modifications (in the tool, in my UJPS profile and in my Star Citizen bidings) and it worked perfectly. But I keep that for another dedicated thread that I will post in the Hardware section of the forum. https://github.com/3noix/UJPS For the future, I am considering buying a real screen, later a desktop computer (several years, maybe only when Star Citizen will be release, my laptop is only 3 years old), and a VR headset (currently I use Track IR). At that time, it should be awesome! I also wonder about Thrustmaster MDF and / or secondary little screen(s) (with touch function or not): it would be really awesome only if it is possible to export MFD screens from the game... but I can also do some interesting things (remote controllers) with my UJPS tool (it will be "input only" wrt the game, but it can interact with my other controllers). The problem is that I will have to choose between MFD or VR, they are not really compatible :slightly_smiling_face:
