More photos on the newest post and here's an overview video: https://youtu.be/tjtTMUX9kKc --- Ok, I’ve been playing SC from beginning of 2021 and it’s already third iteration… I might have a problem. :smile: But since I’m starting from the scratch, I think this warrants its own topic for this project. I decided to start building a new cockpit from the scratch. I’ll probably start working on it at end of June / beginning of July and hopefully be ready by the end of this year. This time I’m taking my time since I have really nice cockpit already to play with. Since I have this really nice setup you might wonder: why? Well, the first and most important reason is that I just really want to and that’s alone enough. I enjoy designing and building this stuff for myself as a hobby (I mean that I enjoy building as much as playing with it) and have so many ideas from my last project that I’d like to implement and improve. It’s just easier to start from nothing. Second is that after starting my YT channel, several people have commented that they really would have liked to see the build process too. So I think it would make interesting content for the channel. And might be helpful for other people working on their setups. First step was to design a 3D model in Fusion 360. I’m planning to keep all the stuff that works from my current setup and improve many sides of the new setup. I’m also making it compatible with possible future 270 degree curved wide screen that I’ll probably build if CIG ever implements a better support for such setups. Besides woodworking stuff, I’ll create much nicer panels, lighting setups (probably add a PC PSU) etc. Yesterday I purchased a pile of 21 mm plywood. So far the cost is around 300 euros (plywood, some extra wood and glue). I think I’ll land somewhere around 500 to 600 euros for total for this build: 350 € for wood, 50+€ for paints, 50€ for display stand metals and perhaps 100€ for wires, switches, LEDs etc (though there will enough of them for future upgrades). And probably get part of that back from selling the old setup (just a warning, I live in Finland :wink: ).
