After 1,5 years building my cockpit for Star Citizen, with few variations, I ended up installing and trying out DCS. It was quite an interesting experience and I realized how amazing Star Citizen could also be with a proper simpit if CIG decided to implement the features to make it so. It would be interesting to hear other people's opinions: What features SC needs to make it great experience for you playing with a simpit. Disclaimer: I'm not saying this stuff should be implemented ASAP. Would be nice but I understand that people like me are really small minority in the playerbase. But it would be amazing to be there some day. Also I enjoy SC already as is. But it could be so much better experience. Here's my take on few different areas: 1. Controller setup Beyond the basic stuff (like making sure joystick order doesn't change or being capable to assign multiple buttons for the same action) that I'd expect this will be fixed some day in any case, I would like to see more options for different kind of binds. At least I would love to see all the modes etc being on/off (up/down and so on) besides basic toggle option. And in many places this is already there but landing gears not having separate up/down control makes my head hurt. :stuck_out_tongue: Also missile mode having separate on/off binds would make it better with flip triggers. What would take everything to another level would be support for latching switches. E.g. if I would have on-on toggle switch, engines would be in state that the switch is in. Not sure if this is possible or feasible though. In any case, I see myself using Joystick Gremlin in the future too. Just like to fidelity it gives to me. 2. Displays Again, besides basic fixing gigantic markers etc, I feel we need the possibility to setup our displays so that if I have 180 degree (or larger) field of view with my displays, I should be able to turn my head to side and see what there is, instead of seeing distorted stuff. I guess FS2020 is finally getting this in its next patch. 3. MFDs I originally though that being able to export MFDs to another display would be nice-to-have feature but after playing DCS I'd say it's almost must-have. Being able to make another display into dashboard is just a gigantic leap in immersion and fun. 4. APIs I think this is a bit more controversial question, at least based on other discussions on Spectrum. There clearly are stuff that can be safely exposed through APIs (like landing gear position or fuel amount). But there seems to be a risk that by exposing too much stuff you'll just give tools to automate stuff? Haven't really thought that topic too deeply. But in the long run, APIs would naturally be gigantic leap for people building their own stuff, and also using things like GameGlass. 5. Reasons to interact with the cockpit This might be a bit more controversial and just my personal preference. Also I 100% understand that CIG needs to make this game approachable for beginners and people playing with M+KB. As much as I'd like, SC naturally can't and won't become DCS in space. But I would like to see more reasons to tweak stuff on the fly. Just to give me an excuse to build more panels and interact with them. Not like the current power management system where you'll basically need to change something almost every second, but tweaking the radar to find your target, optimizing power / heat management etc. Just a bit more; now it's just basically "setup MFDs and weapon groups and that's it".
