Hey guys, so after updating to Windows 11 (again), I tried launching Star Citizen, which didn't work at all. It tried to update the game, but instantly gave me an "launcher error". I had this issue ever since I've updated to Windows 11 (yes I can go back to windows 10 but that's an insane hassle just to play Star Citizen). I checked the launcher log but it just states "launcher error INSTALLER@INSTALLFAILED" and the error line is just blank (thanks CIG!). So far I've tried the following: - Restarted PC - Uninstalled and deleted all RSI launcher files and reinstalled - Disabled Antivirus - Added launcher as exception on anti virus (Windows Security) - Download Visual CC - Downloaded Visual Studio - Slowed concurrent download and speed limit - Deleted Star Citizen and recreated it in a different directory inside my SSD - Ran as administrator - Reset Router - Turned off firewall - Installed all windows updates available - Disabled any VPN's - Unplugged and replugged Ethernet cable Keep in mind, all of this started when I updated to Windows 11, so I assume somethings is wrong there, just don't know what. Any Windows 11 players please share you're experiences. Thanks for the help citizens and I hope I can fix it! o7 (IC LINK: https://issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-27671) [BTW, don't know how to add log files/dxdiag files to this thread, if someone knows please lmk in the comments.] {KEEP IN MIND, THE BASE PACK INSTALLS JUST FINE, IT'S THE FILES AFTER THE BASE PACK THAT CANCEL THE INSTALLATION} UPDATE: FOUND A WORKAROUND AND THE CAUSE OF THE ISSUE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So basically, this is all caused by installing Star Citizen on a Samsung 980/980 PRO on Windows 11. This has been an issue for multiple people, not only me. Basically there is no Official supported NVMe controller driver for the 980/980 PRO for some reason. But that's not the problem, since the standard windows controller worked fine in Windows 10 with Star Citizen, just not in Windows 11. The workaround is fairly simple but DO IT AT YOUR OWN RISK. Credits to @Exstro for the workaround, it came from this IC post: https://issue-council.robertsspaceindustries.com/projects/STAR-CITIZEN/issues/STARC-21248. So what you do is, get the Official Samsung NVMe controller driver (it's an .inf file that you need) for the 970 series NVMe SSD's. It takes some looking online to get it, but it is there (the link to a file like that is: https://mega.nz/#!VoQhQYTQ!muANLtnUfs-NttsifW7LRW44VQwzNO2D8vyihkKBUao). Once you have the file, just go to Device Manager inside Windows 11 and search for storage controllers. Once there you'll see the standard Microsoft NVMe controller If you have more then one NVMe SSD, locate the 980 by clicking on disk drives in the Device Manager, clicking on your 980, and then going to view in the top and click: Devices by connection. It should bring you to the same drive, but one column above you'll see the standard microsoft NVMe controller driver. Right click on it and select Update Driver. Click on browse my computer for files. Click on Browse again and select the .inf file you've just downloaded. Install the driver and restart your computer. Make sure you don't mess up and pick another driver on accident, because you might make the drive stop working in Windows. If all goes well, you should be fine and install the game without hiccups!
