The error 5008 when updating Star Citizen has been happening for a few months now, on several PTU versions as well as on LIVE. I have not made any changes to my computer and my Internet is stable. There are a number of workarounds out there such as changing download speeds or deleting files - None of them worked. The Issue Council has several entries on this with a numver of people experiencing this (I have contributed). However, since both LIVE and PTU are suffering from this issue and since BOTH are currently updating, the entire Star Citizen esperience is INACCESSIBLE due to this bug. UPDATE: Nov 1. Since the launcher updated I tried to delete its cache. That threw the laucnher off and it couldnt find my install folders again, even after manually pointing it in the right direction. So I simply deleted everything. LIVE, PTU, TECH-PREVIEW, etc. and let it install everything all over again. LIVE installed without a hitch. So I made a PTU folder and copied the LIVE contents there as one does. It started updating and i got a 5008 again. So I deleted the PTU folder and had the launcher install the PTU manually. And again, a 5008 just 2 GB shy of being finished. I am at the end of my ideas here. Any help would be very much apprechiated. UPDATE 2: 5008 on PTU occured 2 GB shy of being finished. On a hunch, i restarted the process and this time kept an eye on it. Meaning I did not switch to another program, i kept the launcher maximised in the foreground and watched it. The download stuttered all the way, stopping for a second or 2 every 10 seconds or so... but it finally got there and it finished the download. Make of that what you will. Probably coincidence. Maybe it helps if any CIG bug hunters are reading this.
