Running this game on a 4yo laptop. I realize that's not how to Star Citizen, so apologies for that. Intel i7 11800 2.3 ghz 8 core, 32 GB RAM, Nvidia RTX A3000 6 GB Ram Running game at 1920x1080, "high" quality and medium on the other settings for the most part, blur and film grain off, camera shake off as much as possible. I get decent (YMMV) performance, a wide range around 30 fps for the most part. However, now post 4.0, when I start my laptop in the morning after having run the current live build the previous night for a few hours, I get a windows start fail message along the lines of "high temperatures detected etc.". Diagnostics does not find any issues, fans are clean and running smoothly. So other than the start fail there's no indication of a problem. However running the game the laptop does get piping hot, probably more than with anything else I run. I'm thinking it's time to not play Star Citizen until the next computer, which is probably some years away? Has the conventional wisdom that running the game on high is actually the best performance wise changed? Can I tune graphics settings down to make this game less taxing on my system? I love the clouds in 4.0...
