Hi Guys and Gals, I haven't been here for a couple of years because the computer I built specifically to play SC will now not even load it! Here is what I have: MB: Asus P8Z68-V LE CPU: Intel i5 2500K @ 3.30 ghz GPU: MSI Geforce GTX 980 Ti SSD: Samsung 850 EVO 500 gb RAM: G.Skill F3-1333 16 gb PS: EVGA 850 W 220-G2-0850 XR R MON: Dell U2312 HM OS: WIN 7 Pro I already know the WIN 7 is keeping me from getting into the game, so I'm upgrading to WIN 10 Home for that, but my computer is now starting up on the BIOS screen and won't hold any boot priorities I try to give it, plus, weirdly, the clock and date are way out of whack every time I start it, even after resetting it. I have no idea why it's doing that. So, I'm thinking with this setup I need to go to a better MB and CPU right away, but I keep wondering if I need to just go ahead and ante up for a whole new computer. The components I have still give me a Gunboat-Battleship performance rating on UserBenchmark, but the entire system is at least 6 years old. I am a very casual gamer (sometimes go for months without playing anything), do not overclock, like to play SC, F1 2021 with TM wheel and pedals, Automobilista 1&2, Asseto Corsa modded, Quake Live, Call of Duty, Counterstrike, Day of Defeat, Fallout, Elite Dangerous (since I can't play SC right now) and may pick up some newer games like Red Dead latest version and Starfield if I can't get SC running again. I am also a professional musician and use DAW Reaper on this computer to record songs in my studio, so it needs to be quiet. What I'm toying with for a new computer is something like this: MB Asus Prime Z690-P D4 CPU: Intel Core i5-12400F GPU: Zotac Geforce RTX 3060 Ti SSD: Samsung 980 Pro 2 TB RAM: Cosair Vengeance LPX 2x8 DDR4 3200 PS:EVGA Supernova 750 G# 80 Gold Plus MON: Want to go with a 27-32 inch something or other OS: WIN 10 Home UserBenchmark says this will give UFO across the board and I think I can put it together for less than $1,500 total, but that is still a lot of money. I'd really rather be in the $800 range tops. My excuse for building this is because my current system is 6 years old, starting to give me trouble, and the new build should run anything I throw at it on high in 1440 res, and should be viable at least another 6 years. But I'll be 74 years old then and may not even care! I'm asking you guys because of all the games I've ever played, SC has always been the most resource-gobbling game by far. Even before WIN 7 was omitted, when I still could play, I was getting glitches and lag like crazy. Any thoughts would be appreciated, as I know many of you have been in a similar situation before. Thank You! Scrench
