Update 2/14/2022 PLEASE READ IF YOU'RE HAVING THE SAME ISSUE: After nearly a month of troubleshooting and looking for advice, I still haven't found a way to get the launcher itself to work, but if you're reading this because you're looking for a solution to the same problem, I did find a way to download the game and play it. If you can find someone who has a fully updated Star Citizen install, is willing to use an enormous amount of bandwidth (~80 GiB), and knows how to create a torrent, beg them to transfer the file "Data.p4k" (found in C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries\StarCitizen\LIVE) to you via torrent. If you already have a Data.p4k file in that folder, be sure to delete it before you copy the new file in there. When you run the launcher again, you'll still need to download the install manifest but you should be able to play. Keep in mind that if you're having the same problem I am, you'll probably need to repeat this torrent process every single time a major patch releases. I would highly suggest keeping a backup copy of Data.p4k stored somewhere if you have the space for it. Good luck. Every time I try to install Star Citizen, the RSI Launcher will simply crash in the "Updating Game Content" phase. If I try over and over, the remaining download gets smaller with each subsequent attempt, but it will also crash sooner and sooner, and eventually I won't be able to start the installation whatsoever. I'll note that the number of remaining files and the size of the remaining download isn't exactly the same every time it crashes, so I don't think it's one specific file the launcher is having trouble downloading/installing. There is a potential cause that I'm currently aware of but can't really do anything about: It's been pointed out to me that running 2 drives in RAID 0 might possibly be causing the issue, though I have run Star Citizen on a different machine using SSDs in RAID 0, so there's no certainty that the RAID 0 setup itself is what's causing the issue (though I understand it's not as simple as "It worked on a different machine so it should work here"). I simply can't afford to make expensive changes to my PC setup just to mark one potential problem off the list, so that's off the table. Here's the RSI Launcher log of my first 3 attempts to download and install the game after a fresh launcher install: https://pastebin.com/r2ffhXwM Here's a list of the things I've tried to troubleshoot this issue so far: Running RSI Launcher as Administrator Verifying the installation path in the launcher settings (C:\Program Files\Roberts Space Industries) Using multiple different combinations of the Download Speed Limit and Concurrent Downloads settings Verifying that I have enough space on my C:\ drive (currently over 300 GB available space) Verifying that my OS is fully up to date Installing the latest graphics drivers using GeForce Experience Installed .Net Framework 3.5 Updated to latest Microsoft Visual C++ Updated motherboard LAN drivers Updated motherboard chipset drivers Completely uninstalling RSI Launcher following these steps: https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/360000060747-How-to-delete-the-RSI-Launcher-and-Star-Citizen Redownloading and installing RSI Launcher All of the above with a clean boot Here are my system specs: CPU: AMD Ryzen 7 3700X 3.6 GHz 8-Core Processor Motherboard: MSI MPG X570 GAMING EDGE WIFI ATX AM4 Motherboard RAM: G.Skill Trident Z Neo 64 GB (4 x 16 GB) DDR4-3200 CL16 Memory SSDs: Western Digital WD_BLACK SN750 500 GB M.2-2280 NVME Solid State Drive (2 of them in RAID 0) GPU: ASUS GeForce RTX 3080 10GB GDDR6X PCI Express 4.0 Strix Graphics Card OS: Windows 10 Home Version 21H2 OS Build 19044.1469 Please, for the love of god, someone save me.
