Hi everyone! This thread is for anyone experiencing a similar issue and looking for a solution. The Problem: After about a year, I decided to check out how Star Citizen had improved. I updated the game, but immediately ran into issues. In the main menu, I experienced screen freezes every 3-5 seconds, lasting 3-5 seconds each. It was incredibly frustrating—it took me two minutes just to reach the Enter button for the Persistent Universe. In-game, things were better, but every 10-15 minutes, I’d get another freeze. Sometimes, this even kicked me out of Quantum Jump or caused me to crash during landing maneuvers. I spent three days searching online for a solution, but nobody seemed to have the exact same issue. The strangest part? Freezes are usually caused by CPU or GPU spikes, but in my case, both dropped to near standby mode during freezes. Every other game ran perfectly fine, so I didn’t suspect a hardware defect. Here are my specs for clarification: GPU: ZOTAC RTX 4070 Ti AMP Extreme AIRO 12GB GDDR6X CPU: Intel Core i5-14600KF (5.30GHz) RAM: 64GB DDR4 OS: Windows 10 What I Tried (Nothing Worked): ✔ Updated/reinstalled drivers ✔ Verified files / Clean reinstalled the launcher and Star Citizen (deleted all files, including AppData) ✔ Tried all in-game settings (Low → High) ✔ Tested DLSS and Vulkan (Vulkan also caused display bugs in-game) ✔ Adjusted NVIDIA Control Panel settings ✔ Modified pagefile settings ✔ Checked for interfering background programs ✔ Tweaked Windows settings (Game Mode, etc.) ✔ Disabled firewall and antivirus Nothing made a difference. The Fix: CPU Core Parking Today, I monitored my CPU and noticed that 6 out of my 20 cores were parked (inactive) while ingame. Normally, core parking should dynamically adjust based on usage, but here, it seemed to be causing issues. I attempted to manually adjust Star Citizen’s priority and core usage with taskmanager, but even as an admin, I didn’t have permission to change them. After some research, I found that my Intel CPU sometimes has multi-threading issues, and I could work around it using a program called ParkControl. By unlocking all cores to prevent them from being parked, my problems completely disappeared! No more freezes, and the game even seems to run smoother overall. I’m sharing this in case anyone else is struggling with the same issue—it might save you a lot of frustration. See you in the 'Verse, Citizens!
