Hey (technical) community! I have this bug lately where my whole system crashed and I don't for the live of me how to solve it, I reinstalled Windows and I probably tracked it down to one of the latest Windows 11 updates (running 23H2) or the latest AMD GPU Drivers (24.3 Adrenaline). I can completely replicate the issue (it always happens within 3 minutes of playing Star Citizen) and is the only game where this happens (no other games at all). I looked over all my temperatures and they are looking good, I also downclocked my RAM to 2933 instead of 3200 cause I know Ryzen can be notorious with RAM sometimes, but no effect. Also tried latest chipset drivers, but no bueno. I can maybe flash my bios still, but since it's in BETA I am not sure if this is the right path to walk. I also tried turning off fTPM and secured computing, also not fixing the issue. This is the log I get from the event viewer: Specs: CPU:Ryzen 5800X GPU: 7900XTX RAM: 32GB of DDR4 at 3200MHz Motherboard: AsRock 370X K4 Pro (BIOS P7.30) Here is stability test through 3dMark: https://www.3dmark.com/3dm/110476322 / https://imgur.com/a/TXUSFZ9 SCEP Certificate enrollment initialization for WORKGROUP\LEON$ via https://AMD-KeyId-907d65e9b562315997dd5ad086b2b7598957b92c.microsoftaik.azure.net/templates/Aik/scep failed: GetCACaps GetCACaps: Not Found {"Message":"The authority \"amd-keyid-907d65e9b562315997dd5ad086b2b7598957b92c.microsoftaik.azure.net\" does not exist."} HTTP/1.1 404 Not Found Date: Thu, 18 Apr 2024 13:38:28 GMT Content-Length: 121 Content-Type: application/json; charset=utf-8 X-Content-Type-Options: nosniff Strict-Transport-Security: max-age=31536000;includeSubDomains x-ms-request-id: fb43fbc6-6ded-4991-844a-0eaaa1334e96 Method: GET(250ms) Stage: GetCACaps Niet gevonden (404). 0x80190194 (-2145844844 HTTP_E_STATUS_NOT_FOUND) Edit 23/04: Next to the stability benchmarks from 3DMark, I used OCCT to do an hour stability test, and while it is getting very hot in my PC (I was suspecting this might cause issues), the system remains stable (I will definitely get some extra fans though). Now when I start SC, it crashes the moment I start playing (very easy to reproduce), when I lowed the resolution it will last for longer but eventually also crash. I tried CCLeaner as well and so far no bueno. Solution 24/04: I went into AMD Adrenaline and tuned some settings, clockspeed is now at 2615 (as the card goes out of the box), min frequency on 500Mhz, power limit on -5 and voltage on 1085mV. Stable so far, so looking forward to how it goes. :slightly_smiling_face: Final solution: Edit 14-05-2024 (preliminary) solution: I reseated my RAM, first I thought one RAM was faulty cause with one RAM stick (out of 2) I crashed and with the other I didn't. Eventually I wanted to test if it might be the error of the dual-channel side of t hings, so I inserted both sticks again, and all works.... I should have always reminded myself to always start with RAM.... Addional speculation: I don't know what caused the issues exactly or why the reseating worked, but if I had to guess is that maybe some dust crawled into the pins and it only crashed with specific games since they use more RAM, or either use a different part of the RAM-stick, just speculation but that is all I can come up with. Edit edit: It seems Foxhole is fixed, but Star Citizen unfortunately still is not, only downclocking the GPU helps in this regard. :disappointed: Edit edit edit: Dusted off the RAM ports with high-pressure air and all seems fixed for now. Will edit this post if it all has been running stable for multiple days.
