Suggested Graphics PERFORMANCE SETTINGS PAGE One of Two LAST EDITED Aug 4, 2026 Minimum System Requirements: https://support.robertsspaceindustries.com/hc/en-us/articles/4888457936919-Star-Citizen-Alpha-Minimum-System-Requirements System-Requirements o As of 3.24.2 Full screen has been removed from UI. Windows command Alt-Enter o Game uses server content streaming resulting in the game being server and packet latency performance limited. o SC at this stage of development does not handle Ultra Wide or high resolutions very well. Wide Screen flicker disable Gsync. Distorted of misplaced UI elements: options->graphics -> visor and lens aspect ratio setting. See Server Performance: Command Console: "`" Command: r_displayinfo =2 (done properly will echo command in green) Close Console: "`" Look for line: Server FPS 5 = typical server, >5 = above average server, 4 = struggling servers, 3 or less = dying server o Cities will have much lower FPS than the rest of the game. o Gcard 4Gb or larger with DX11.1 DX12 capable required. o Do NOT install onto HDD or USB SSD less than version 3.2. o Game Locked at 60 frames: Both vsync and triple buffering turned on will restrict your fps. o Some players do better or worse depending on D3D or Vulkan selected as the renderer. Card Compatibility: https://ark.intel.com/content/www/us/en/ark.html https://www.nvidia.com/en-us/geforce/graphics-cards/compare/?section=compare-specs https://www.amd.com/en/technologies/directx12 o How to Disable Game Mode: To control Windows 10 Game Mode function, navigate to the Settings window from the start menu and open the Gaming tab. 1 Click Start and type Settings 2 Choose first option 3 Locate and select Gaming 3.23 issues: Many players cannot use Vulkan or Upscaling without crashes or distortions. USE native monitor resolution for the game. SC wants to run on Primary Monitor. Use your GCard's software to create a profile for SC and select the monitor the game will run on. Save the profile. UNLESS USING SCALING Game and Desktop should be set to the same resolution. When using scaling start with one step below native then work down until the image is satisfactory. Game Options Graphics: The higher the quality, the more processing moved to Graphics Card vs CPU with no visual differences: Graphics Quality = High Field of View: 100 Motion Blur: Off Sharpening: 0 Chromatic Aberration: 0 Film Grain: Off Volumetric clouds = medium or off VSync = OFF Note: If you NEED VSync, set that up on the GCard rather than the game. Scaling (Not game Upscaling): If your graphics card has the feature, additional performance will result from decreasing the resolution in the game and using Scaling to bump it back up to your native resolution. Newer AMD cards can do this at the click of a button ("super resolution" feature.) Image scaling on NVidia (Dynamic Super Resolution)?: https://youtu.be/CWjAeIHcN14 If you have Intel CPU: SYNC ALL PCORES. Ecores and Win 10, DISABLE in bios. Some Win 11 also have to disable. Citrix, malware such as wifi boosters and internet enhancers can stall internet connections to the servers and stutter the game. Limited/Capped Frame rates (60, 72, etc.): VSync + Triple Buffering enabled Fix startup resolution issues: You can edit the xml file (back it up) to gain access to the options page: \LIVE\USER\Client\0\Profiles\default\attributes.xml Width/Height "Width" value=" "Height" value=" PAGEFILE: >=32GB system RAM use "SYSTEM MANAGED" option (not auto): Note: If you upgrade your RAM after this, edit the pagefile to be SYSTEM MANAGED. Note 2: Should only do this if "OUT_OF_SYSMEM" in game.log file. Note 3: Often 32GB pagefile is suggested. This setting below has been proven to work in hundreds of tests on various systems and will save 8GB of disk space. Solve crashing/stuttering/missing texture-geometry. game.log: "failed to allocate" ... (OUT_OF_SYSMEM) (0x2BADFF61) at high entity locations in SC due to large page faults. Note 4: IGNORE the "trying to allocate" numbers in the log. They are meaningless. Setting Manual Pagefile from File Explorer: o Right-click on This PC and open Properties. o Select Advanced System Properties o Click Advanced tab o Under Performance, click Settings o Under Performance Options, click Advanced tab o Under Virtual memory, select Change o Uncheck Automatically manage paging file size for all drives o Highlight your Windows system drive usually C:\ Must be SSD or can be another SSD drive other than C : o Select Custom size o Change the INITIAL size value AND the MAX size value to the LAST number shown here (creates STATIC pagefile) SET the Initial size value AND the Maximum size value to same value. Make BOTH fields the SAME: o Calculation: sysram 16G x 1024 = 16384 x 1.5 = -->24576<-- use this number sysram 32G x 1024 = 32768 x 1.5 = ->49152<- OR use System Managed not auto. 64G System Managed not auto. o >>Click Set << o Finally, Click Apply/OK to all open dialogs. Reboot. Make sure you are running the game from SSD and if using 16GB sysram, you need a custom pagefile of a particular size/type created.
