Please, spend a few minutes to watch these two videos... https://youtu.be/mE8oL0T_R00 https://youtu.be/fR-Fqyp04tk Well, the first one is a video of one of own star citizen content creators, called Citizen gamer...in (imho) one of the best videos he has ever made...and the second one is about Bethesda‘s new teased game called starfield... So here is my point: I am a little bit concerned that the general attitude of “take your time and don’t rush it”, of both CIG and of some very hardcore fans isn’t as realistic as it should be. Apparently game studios begin to realize how much potential a space simulator has. And as with most things in life, competitors always want a “piece of the pie”. CIG had a very, very, VERY good head start. But it‘s been 5 whole years of development so far, and most probably another 10 to go. And apparently, no matter how forgiving a hardcore fan might be...no matter how slowly CIG does things...Competition will soon prove that time is not a luxury that CIG has. Futhermore, CIG recent “cash-only-LTIs” strategy shows (to me personally) that money isn’t a luxury that devs have either. I don’t see any greed for profit...I only see need for funds! (Personally I couldn’t care less about LTIs, I do not have any and won’t ever get any, and I will explain why in another post) Obviously (and frankly, very reasonably) CIG does need more funds to fuel the project...especially if that project is going to last for another decade! So neither money is a luxury for CIG. So to all the hardcore fanboys that support whatever-CIG without doubt or question...and often block any skepticism and criticism... Just think: ”What do you think will happen to out favorite game, when another company simply rips off the very escence of star citizen and decide to release a AAA title under 69,99$? What do you think it will happen when a game comes out, with less appealing graphics And far, FAR better, balanced and satisfying game mechanics?” Words like “real physics”, ”space simulator” even “best damn space sim ever“ slapped in everyone’s face...in what seems to be an oversimplistic Overwatch/counterstrike FPS without walls and ceilings, with expensive $$$$$ spaceships moving in pace meant to satisfy the average FPS fan. All these with poor balance and highly underrated money factor to it!!!. Don’t get me wrong...the game has some excellent tech, excellent visuals...but simple in it’s core. Do you think that the majority will pay 45$ if the flight model doesn’t reach the “simulator“ standards??? Keep in mind...Currently CIG heavily relies on few $$$$$ pledge whales to stay afloat...but most probably expects to get further support from millions of 45$ pledges once the game gets to beta. I am afraid that the very moment another company realeases a less appealing but more satisfying pc game out there in a reasonable price...it will be the end game for us. And don’t forget: other companies have money, studios, developers, game engines, assets and more than 5 years to catch up... I hope that CIG is listening. I think they should feel the pressure. It might be hard, but at least is a safer approach. I do like the recent fixes on the esp, ifcs and grav lev system...and I hope that CIG will do an huge push this year, I hope that I won’t be seeing another 3.0-release-delay-event cause...I don’t think we can afford it at this point. PS: I hope that whoever read this post will understand that every point I am trying to make is because I want this game to succeed.
