https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5NGmO0zTJ7U Something interesting I tripped over. I have yet to actually get on the server because I don't own the current map and I'm still too much of a novice to survive a fight in my harrier. That said, its interesting to see them talk about ideas for balancing large scale conflicts when you don't have an MMO settings tools. The problem with DCS is that it is not a game, it is a sim. No one added aircraft with a big plan for balance or mechanics, its just a variety of studios that toss things in for players to tinker with. This makes the server critical for what happens next, and players (being players) can easily shred any idea of having a fair match unless the available vehicles and spawns are strictly controlled. So the issue then is how do you make balanced game out of assets that don't seemingly work together. An F-16 can slaughter doves of Migs while a Huey seems to have no place in a game full of fighters. Fox 3's can pretty much ruin a conflict for any jet made before the 90's. Seeing them approach the issue as a cost/benefit system reminds me of what Quanta is attempting to do, only on much simpler terms.
